Seawall questions, answered

Are you a seawall contractor?

No. Seawall Repair Pasco is a referral service. We connect you with an independent, licensed local contractor, who gives their own estimate, pulls permits and does the work.

Who issues seawall permits in Pasco and Hernando?

It depends on where the parcel is. Unincorporated Pasco goes through Pasco County Building Construction Services, New Port Richey and Port Richey have their own building offices, and Hernando County parcels go through the Hernando County Building Division. State and federal reviews can apply on top of that.

How do I know if my seawall needs repair?

Watch for holes or soft ground in the yard near the wall, sand or shell piling up at the base at low tide, cracked or spalling concrete on the cap, and a wall that has started to tip toward the water.

What does seawall repair cost?

Published 2026 figures put repairs around $100 to $250 per linear foot and Florida replacements around $500 to $1,200 per foot. The contractor's written estimate for your wall is what counts.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. The estimate is free and there's no obligation to hire the contractor.

Does a mailing address tell me which office permits my wall?

No. New Port Richey, Port Richey and Hudson mailing addresses all cover large unincorporated areas. The City of New Port Richey itself notes that not every property with a New Port Richey ZIP code is inside city limits. Look up your parcel with the property appraiser.

Is there a state exemption for seawall repair?

Florida Statutes section 403.813(1)(e) lists the restoration of a seawall at its previous location, upland of it, or within 18 inches waterward of it among the activities that don't need certain state permits. Local building permits still apply, and your contractor should confirm in writing whether your job qualifies.

Does homeowners insurance cover seawall repair?

Often not, and flood policies treat seawalls differently from the house. Check your policy and talk to your agent before you assume either way.

Can I repair my own seawall?

Watching the wall and keeping drains clear, yes. Structural repairs and most work on the wall need a licensed contractor and usually a permit.

Should I get an inspection before buying a canal home?

It's a good idea. Listings often state the seawall length but not its condition, and a general home inspection may not look closely at the wall.

Do you cover lakefront seawalls?

Yes. Lake walls around Land O' Lakes and central Pasco are part of the service area, and freshwater walls have their own issues, like changing lake levels and boat wakes.

Are your images real projects?

No. They're illustrations made for this site, not photos of completed projects.
